Poetry

Poetry and songwriting are often said to go hand in hand, though that’s not the case with me. I approach the two as separate disciplines – my music is mainstream in comparison to my poetry.

Poets that influence me include Allen Ginsberg, Charles Bukowski, Leonard Cohen, Jeff Hilson, Peter Jaeger and William Carlos Williams. If it rhymes, I probably don’t like it – I prefer surrealist, ambiguous poetry or the darker, literal type that delves in to areas of existence that are (probably) better left alone.
